Tufnells celebrate their 50th anniversary

WELLS — Steve and Nancy (Peterson) Tufnell celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary with a small reception held at the Island Resort and Casino with family and friends.

The couple who currently resides in Wells were married on January 29, 1972 at St. Francis De Sales Church in Manistique. Attendants at the time were: Bestman – Mike Tufnell (Brother), Groomsman – Rick Martin (Best Friend) and Ring Bearer Alan Tufnell (Brother). Maid of Honor was Jo-Nell (Peterson) Berger (Cousin), Bridesmaid – Kathy (Broullire) Redd (Best Friend), Flower Girl – Cindy (Peterson) Markham (Sister).

Steve retired from the Plumbers and Pipefitter Local Union 111 in May of 2020. He had been employed by Johnson Controls, Appleton WI.

Nancy retired from Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians as a Community Health Clerk in 2000 to be a “family caregiver.”

Steve attends Christ the King Lutheran Church. His hobbies include; hunting, fishing and snowmobiling. His favorite hobby is Monday nights with his buddies playing bumper pool and cribbage in the winter and golfing in the summer.

Nancy attends Christ the King Lutheran Church. Her hobbies include family, friends and food as she has a love to cook and bake for all of them as her favorite saying is — “If you leave my house hungry, it’s your own fault!”

She also enjoys listening to music and playing word games on her phone. Her favorite hobby of all is spending time with her grandchildren.

The couples children are Cory (Julie) Tufnell of Escanaba, Wendy Tufnell and Lauire (Derk) Tufnell of Wells. Grandchildren are Nathan Tufnell, Sarah Dowd, Hannah Simmons, Marissa Marshall, Makayla Marshall, Alexis Isaacson and Michael Burie.

Great Granddaughter – Audrie LaCosse and Great Grandson Anden Dowd.

The couple planned a trip to Florida in February to celebrate with family.
