Labres celebrate 40 years of marriage

ESCANABA — Rodney and Kimberly (Kollmann) Labre, of Escanaba, recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. The couple was married Sept. 5, 1981, at St. Patricks Church, in Escanaba.

Orginal attendants were Cindy Bink, matron of honor; Mary Dwyer Holt, bridesmaid; Andy Gavlek, best man; and Dave Hurthibise, groomsman. All attendants were friends of the couple.

The couple took an anniversary trip to Maine and have a delayed Alaskan cruise planned for 2022.

Rodney retired in February 2021 after 41 1/2 years at Verso Corp., as a carpenter and mechanic.

Kimberly retired in October 2020, after 10 years at the Daily Press as a customer service representative.

Rodney is a 25-year club member of the Mead Paper Rod and Gun Club, enjoys motorcycling, camping, traveling, photography, hunting, fishing and watching Red Wings hockey.

They also both enjoy watching grandkids in sports and being with family.

Kimberly and Rodney had two children: Jennifer (Michael) Blickham, of Escanaba, and Steven (Karolynne) Labre.

They have three grandchildren: Bennnett Blickham, Lexi Labre, and Channing Krahling.
