Bovins celebrate 40th anniversary
FLAT ROCK — Warren and Novalene Bovin, of Flat Rock, will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary on Sept. 6.
The former Novalene Pepin married Warren Bovin in 1980 at Holy Family Church in Flat Rock. They celebrated with family and friends at a reception held at the Flat Rock Town Hall.
The Bovins are parishioners of All Saints Catholic Church of Gladstone. Novalene enjoys volunteering with her girlfriends at St. Vincent de Paul and cheering on her Detroit Tigers. Warren is a proud Air Force veteran and a member of the Knight of Columbus. They have been enjoying retirement together, with many walks and home improvement projects in the house where Novalene was raised.
Warren and Novalene have two daughters, Rachel (Kevin) DeGrand of Edgerton, Wis., and Ashley (Michael Schaeffer) of Grand Rapids, Mich.
Rachel, Ashley, and niece Candice held a surprise reception and dance party for the Bovins’ 30th anniversary in summer 2010; many of their original wedding guests, and family and friends from near and far, came to celebrate. Warren has been not-so-secretly hoping for a repeat every year since. (Maybe after the pandemic, Dad!)
