Blixts mark 60th anniversary

Ethel M. Swanson Blixt and Richard W. Blixt

BLIXT — On June 18, Ethel M. Swanson Blixt and Richard W. Blixt had a 60th anniversary reception, hosted by the couple’s three daughters, at the Terrace Bay Resort with 26 people in attendance.

Richard served in the U.S. Air Force for four years and was employed by Harnischfeger Corporation for 27 years. Harnischfeger closed in 1984. Richard had to get out of Escanaba and look for work at the age of 53 years. Richard found work in Appleton, Wis. He worked for Voith Paper Machine Corporation for 10 years, then retired from Voith in 1994. Richard and Ethel moved back to Escanaba in 1995.

Ethel worked for Hiawatha Baptist Mission until she was laid off and then looked for work in 1995. Ethel went to work for Neisner’s Dime store for five years and worked in daycare for six years.

Ethel enjoyed being a member of Loving Fingers Quilters at Central United Methodist Church.

The couple had three daughters, Katri J. Blixt, Diane M. Miller, and Kelly A. Bourdeau.
