GARDEN — The Village Artisans of Garden will be hosting a gallery open house on Thursday, May 24 from 5 to 8 p.m.

The Village Artisans, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization formed in 1983 in Garden to bring together artists and art enthusiasts.

Throughout its history, the organization has sponsored art classes, workshops, music and drama productions, lectures, demonstrations, and adult enrichment programs.

The Village Artisans hold yearly events to raise funds to provide classes for the community’s children and adults to help maintain their building, located eight miles south of US-2.

During the open house, desserts, snacks and door prizes will be available for guests. Coffee for the event is being donated from the Lemire Inn and Coffee Exchange.

A spaghetti dinner fundraiser will also be held at the Garden Community Building beginning at 4:30 p.m. This meal is sponsored by Tri-Star. Cost is a free will donation. The dinner is to help raise money for newly purchased stair chair lifts.

While in the gallery, the public can look and purchase art and craft pieces. Fine examples of painting, photography, jewelry, pottery, weaving, metal work, candle making, wood turning, fabric creations, woodcarving, glass blowing, stained glass, and basketry are on display.

The Garden Gallery is open Memorial Day weekend through mid-October, Mondays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. New consignors in the region are welcome. Contact the gallery at (906) 644-2025.
