ESCANABA -- Enhance Escanaba is seeking approval to pursue grant funding for a new dock at the Escanaba Harbor. The proposal is among the items expected to come before the Escanaba City Council during its regular meeting Thursday evening.
The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday at City Hall, 410 Ludington St., Room C101.
According to the council's agenda, the Harbor Advisory Committee has recommended that Enhance Escanaba pursue grant funding to purchase a 100-foot aluminum, L-shaped dock. The dock would be installed in the harbor south of Pier 3.
The project also includes a 60-foot removable boardwalk extending south along the shoreline from the existing sidewalk to provide access to the dock. The proposed project would be compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
The Escanaba Municipal Marina, located within the city’s 120-acre Ludington Park complex on the west shore of Green Bay’s Little Bay de Noc, currently has a total of 165 boat slips, docks and moorings with designated seasonal and transient berthings, according to the city.
In other business, the council is expected to:
-- Consider purchasing security cameras for City Hall and Escanaba Public Safety from Heartland Business Systems in the amount of $17,805.31.
-- Consider approving a $7,000 purchase offer from Allseasons, Inc., of Escanaba, for a .23-acre parcel of land located between First Avenue South and Willow Creek Road. The formal offer was submitted by Joseph F. Stankowicz, president and owner of Allseasons Inc.
-- Consider approval of the design and placement of street markers. A volunteer group has already repainted the existing posts and has provided a design to replace the posts that are missing in town. No City funds are requested for this project.
-- Consider retaining the services of FDS Engineering & Electrical Services of Iron Mountain for Water Tower Electrical Renovations in an amount not to exceed $16,000.
-- Consider retaining the services of All Lift Solutions of Neenah, Wisconsin for the Water/Wastewater Plant repairs of cranes/hoists in an amount not to exceed $16,000.
