HANCOCK -- The Bay College men's basketball team rallied from 23 points down to knock off Finlandia University 95-92 in overtime here Monday.
Jamal Deshields-Beard scored 12 points in the first five minutes of the game for the Lions, who held a 37-29 halftime lead.
Dylan Underwood scored 10 straight points to start the second half to give Finlandia a 49-31 lead that eventually grew to 57-34.
Alfonzo Fields began the comeback for the Norse, as their defense turned into offense with steals and fastbreak points.
Fields drove for a layup to close the gap to 81-79 with just under a minute left. Finlandia senior Austin Carlson answered to put the Lions (0-21) back up by four with 40 ticks left, but Fields scored again to make it 83-81.
With 2.7 seconds left, Fields threw up a prayer that went in at the buzzer to force overtime while being defended by two Lions off an inbounds play.
Tyler Willette of Escanaba drove for a three-point play early in the extra session to give Bay a 90-85 lead.
Finlandia had two attempts at game-tying baskets that came up short, including a three at the buzzer by Jacob Oom.
Fields had a career-high 27 points and Willette added 21.
Kobi Barnes had 19 before rolling his ankle midway through the second half.
The Norse (20-9) denied the Lions their first win of the season in the regular season finale for both teams.
Bay hosts either Dakota County Tech or Gogebic Community College Feb. 27 in the NJCAA Region 13 opener.
In the women's contest, the Norse fell at Finlandia 57-49.

They struggled shooting, going 0-for-16 from three-point range and 13-of-23 from the free throw line.
The Lions (7-17) jumped out to a 21-13 lead and led 24-19 at the half.
The Norse responded and tied the game at 30 in the third quarter, as Keshia Davis dominated down low.
However, Katie Lundeen scored seven points in the first two minutes of the fourth quarter to help the Lions take a 45-37 lead. The Norse closed to within 47-44, but couldn't get any closer.
Harlee Froberg nailed a big jumper at the end of the shot clock to seal the win for the Lions.
Davis led the Norse with 18 points. Jordan Kraemer was held to a career-low five points.
