Menominee has
new H of F class
MENOMINEE -- Seven former inductees of the Upper Peninsula Sports Hall of Fame have been selected to their hometown Hall.
Joining the Menominee High School Athletic Hall of Fame are UPSHF inductees Mike Shatusky, Jack Streidel, Ron "Satch" Englund, Bob Krysiak, Fran Mellinger, Joe Johnson and Mary Agnes Wall.
They will be joined by Heather Nelson, Jim Payne and John McLean, a member of the first Maroons' football team in 1894.
The induction banquet is May 4 at Riverside Golf Club in Menominee.
Toughman golf
HYDE -- The Toughman Tournament will be held at Highland Golf Club Saturday, with a shotgun start at noon. Entry fee is $40 for the event, which benefits the Delta County Junior Golf League. For details, contact the Highland (466-2791).

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- The Minnesota Twins hired Rays assistant coach Rocco Baldelli as their new manager, seeking a young voice to help revive a struggling team.
The 37-year-old Baldelli replaces Paul Molitor, who was fired after four seasons with a 305-343 record . Baldelli will be the youngest manager in the major leagues.
