Rain dampens Legion zone opener at Gladstone

GLADSTONE -- Rain shortened the opening game of the American Legion Class A Zone 5 Tournament with Gladstone leading Menominee 7-2 in the top of the fourth inning when the game was stopped.
The teams will re-start the game at 9:30 a.m. today prior to the regular scheduled four games of the tournament to follow on Don Olsen Field.
Thursday night's second game between Bark River and the Copper County was not played and will be re-scheduled for Saturday morning at 10 a.m. prior to the Gladstone pool semi-final games scheduled in the Zone 5 tournament.
Pool play games are being held in both Gladstone and Escanaba with the championship game set for 3 p.m. Saturday in Esky at Al Ness Field.
Today's Gladstone, Don Olsen Field schedule: 9:30 a.m., Menominee-Gladstone, resume Thursday's game in the top of the fourth inning; 11 a.m., Menominee vs. Copper Country 2 p.m., Gladstone vs. Bark River; 5 p.m., Bark River vs. Menominee; 8 p.m., Gladstone vs. Copper Country.
