Semi trailer fire in Masonville Township

At approximately 8 p.m. Saturday, Masonville Fire Department was called to U.S. 2 and 41, North of 25.5 Lane, for a semi trailer on fire. While in route, firefighters were informed that the trailer was carrying plastic chips and the trailer was disconnected from the tractor. When firefighters arrived on scene, the rear half of the trailer was fully engulfed. Firefighters were able to knock down the fire with two handlines and the deluge gun. Gene’s Towing was called to help overhaul the trailer and make sure the fire was completely extinguished. The trailer was a complete loss, and cause of fire is still under investigation. Firefighters cleared the scene at 12:05 a.m. Assisting at the scene were Brampton Township Volunteer Fire Dept and Auxiliary, Masonville EMS, Delta County Sheriff’s Office, Gene’s Towing & Recovery and Michigan State Police.
