SCHOOLCRAFT COUNTY -- The residents of Schoolcraft County are able to use hard line phones to contact Regional Dispatch and local law enforcement agencies again.
Rebecca Baker, a dispatcher at Manistique Public Safety, said the phones seem to be working again and the issue has been resolved.
According to a press release from Manistique Public Safety, Centurylink reported to Negaunee Regional Dispatch that a fiber cut on their hard line phone system had occurred effecting customers in the Manistique area Thursday at around 3 p.m.
Centurylink had found the damage and worked to repair it.
During the outage residents were not able to contact Regional Dispatch, Schoolcraft County Sheriff, or Manistique Public Safety using a hard line phone in the Manistique area.
According to Manistique Public Safety, people were generally able to use cell phones to contact Negaunee Regional Dispatch or the Schoolcraft County Sheriff.
