Perk’s Cabinetry enjoys years of success locally

ESCANABA -- With decades of history and locations in Escanaba and Marinette, Wis., Perk's Cabinetry has been a long-lasting success story in the area. Perk's has been in business for about 40 years, owner Brent Krutina said.
"Forrest Perkins was the original owner," he said. The business' original location was in Marinette.
Before he got involved with Perk's, Krutina had opened a cabinetry business of his own.
"I had Krutina's Custom Cabinetry here in this building," he said. Krutina bought out Perk's about 15 years ago when Perkins retired, and brought it to Escanaba (while keeping its Marinette location open) at this time.
Krutina said things have been going well at Perk's.
"Business has been (really) good here -- very steady," he said.
He noted there are many different reasons for this.
"We have always offered a quality product for a competitive price," Krutina said, adding the business' customer service and "know-how" have also been important factors.
As its name suggests, cabinets are among Perk's Cabinetry's strongest sellers. Krutina said one of the business' offerings in this product category is laminate cabinets for commercial use.
"Along with that, we have everything available … on the residential side," he said. Perk's offers cabinets made from a wide variety of wood species, which are available in both stained and painted finishes.
Several different types of countertops are sold at Perk's, as well.
"Countertops, we have available in laminate, solid-surface and quartz and granite," Krutina said. He noted that the variety of countertop materials available is much larger now than it was when he entered the industry.
Many of the countertops sold at Perk's are fabricated in the business' workshop.
"We do a lot of custom countertop here," Krutina said. Perk's also sells some custom cabinets.
Outside of adding equipment and machinery to the workshop, Krutina said he does not have any major changes planned for Perk's.
"The big thing is just keeping things steady … and keeping our customers happy," he said.
