SENEY -- A downstate couple was injured in a motorcycle accident when the driver lost control and collided into a road sign in Schoolcraft County on Sunday afternoon, according to Michigan State Police.
Robert Wydeck, 63, of Grandhaven, was traveling west on M-28 in Seney, near M-77, when he suffered a medical event and lost control of the bike, causing it to go off the road at around 2:30 p.m. He and his wife, Kathleen McCartney-Wydeck, 63, were thrown from the motorcycle when it collided with a road sign, said troopers.
Robert Wydeck, who was not wearing a helmet, was transported by Valley Med Helicopter to U.P. Health Systems in Marquette. His wife, who was wearing a helmet, was transported to Helen Newberry-Joy Hospital in Newberry. Both had non-life-threatening injuries.
Speed or alcohol were not factors in the accident, said troopers.
