HNHS Class of 1959 plans reunion for 2019
ESCANABA -- The Holy Name Class of 1959 is planning its 60th Class Reunion for Aug. 31, 2019. It will be held at the Island Resort and Casino.
Classmates who are interested in planning this reunion are asked to come to the Family Inn at noon on Dec. 6.

Escanaba Lions Club meeting Monday
ESCANABA -- The Escanaba Lions Club will be holding its next regular meeting on Monday, Dec. 3 at the Escanaba Elks Lodge. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. Members are asked to bring a toy donation for the Marine Corp Toys for Tots.
On Dec. 12 the Lions will be singing Christmas Carols at Bishop Noa in Escanaba.
There will be a presentation on the Leader Dog program at the January meeting.

Legion Christmas party
FLAT ROCK -- The annual Christmas party for Escanaba River American Legion Post 115 and the Auxiliary will be held at the Escanaba Township Hall in Flat Rock on Thursday, Dec. 6. The social hour will begin at 5 p.m., and dinner is at 6 p.m.
U.P. Tri-County MEA-Retired Group to meet
ESCANABA -- U.P. Tri-County MEA-Retired Group will hold a meeting Tuesday, Dec. 4, at 10 a.m. EST (9 a.m. CST) at the Great Lakes First Federal Credit Union, training room, 2110 Third Avenue North, in Escanaba. Please park in the back of the parking lot so the customers can have the front parking spaces.
Kay Walker-Telma, state MEA-retired vice president, will be the guest speaker.
Canned goods will be collected for local food pantries so attendees are asked to bring items with them.
Any interested retired or current MEA members can attend.

Benefit for Abbie Silverstone Dec. 9
ESCANABA -- Abbie Silverstone was recently diagnosed with stage 4 Hodgkin's lymphoma and has started chemotherapy treatments in Green Bay, Wis. She is the daughter of Escanaba Public Safety Lieutenant Jamie Silverstone and OSF Nurse Nichole Silverstone and the younger sister of Ethan and Erika.
Abbie's Army Benefit Breakfast will be held on Dec. 9, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Escanaba High School. There will be a donation at the door, with kids under 5 admitted for free.
The event will include raffles, 50/50s, a bake sale, and shirt and bracelet sales.
Any donations for raffles prizes can be dropped off at Escanaba Public Safety Department, and an account has been set up in Abbie's name at Delta County Credit Union for any financial donations.
Elks Auxiliary meeting
ESCANABA -- The Escanaba Elks Auxiliary will hold its December meeting on Thursday, Dec. 6. Social hour begins at 5:30 p.m., dinner is at 7 p.m. and the meeting will follow. The meal will be a ham dinner.
Toys for Tots and non-perishable food items for the Salvation Army will be collected. The "Automatic Reservation" list is in effect. Reservations or cancellations can be made by calling Shirley at 789-9306 or gollachs@yahoo.com by noon on Monday, Dec. 3.
