MEA-Retired group to meet Dec. 4 in Esky
ESCANABA -- U.P. Tri-County MEA-Retired Group will hold a meeting Tuesday, Dec. 4, at 10 a.m. EST (9 a.m. CST) at the Great Lakes First Federal Credit Union training room, 2110 Third Ave. North, in Escanaba. Please park in the back of the parking lot so the customers can have the front parking spaces.
Kay Walker-Telma, State MEA-Retired Vice President, will be the guest speaker.
Canned goods will be collected for local food pantries, so attendees are asked to bring items with them.
Any interested retired or current MEA members can attend.

Amvets to host band Country Slingers Friday
ESCANABA -- Amvets Post 123, located at 1315 N. Lincoln Road in Escanaba, is featuring country band County Slingers Friday, Nov. 30 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. The public is welcome.
Foster Grandparents plan events for Dec. 7
HARRIS -- The Foster Grandparent Program will be having an in-service meeting and its Christmas luncheon on Friday, Dec. 7. The in-service meeting will be at 10:30 a.m. The luncheon will begin at 12 p.m. The meeting and luncheon will be at the Island Resort and Casino, W399 US-2, in Harris.
Auxiliary aids and services are available upon request to individuals with disabilities.

Holiday story hour in Gladstone Dec. 8
GLADSTONE -- Come celebrate the holiday season at the Gladstone Public Library’s story hour, "Snow Much Fun!" Children 2 to 10 years old are invited to join in the holiday festivities on Saturday, Dec. 8, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Children will enjoy stories, create a craft, sing holiday songs and decorate cookies. There will also be a visit from a special guest. This story hour is sponsored by the Friends of the Gladstone Library.
Class of 1984 plans 35th reunion for 2019
ESCANABA -- The Escanaba class of 1984 will hold its 35th reunion Saturday, July 6, 2019 at the Bluff Country Club. Tentative plans include a golf outing in the afternoon and a get-together the same night. More details will be made available as the event approaches.

Sons of Union Veterans schedule meeting
MARQUETTE -- Camp 266 of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War will hold its bi-monthly meeting on Saturday, Dec. 1 at noon at Jasper Ridge Brewery and Restaurant, 1075 Country Lane, in Ishpeming. The meeting will include a luncheon ordered off the menu and the installation of officers by the Commander of the Department of Michigan.
The Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War is a fraternal organization dedicated to preserving the history and legacy of the heroes who fought and worked to save the Union. Camp 266 includes members from across the Upper Peninsula. The focus of the camp is locating, marking and maintaining graves of Civil War veterans, as well as researching Civil War history.
