Holy Name class

of '68 holds meeting

ESCANABA -- The Holy Name class of 1968 will be having a class reunion meeting on Thursday, Aug. 10, at 7 p.m. at the Escanaba Country Club. Use the back entrance. If there are any questions, call Peggy at 789-1784.

Stamp and coin club

offers appraisals

ESCANABA -- The next meeting of the Bay de Noc Stamp and Coin Club is planned for Monday, Aug. 14, at 5 p.m. The meeting is held in the Joseph Heirman Building, room 961, at Bay College. The public is always invited to the meetings, and the group is looking for new members. Anyone with coins or stamps needing to be appraised can bring them to the meeting.

Kennel Club holds

meeting Thursday

ESCANABA -- The Bay de Noc Kennel Club will hold its next general meeting on Thursday, Aug. 10, at 7 p.m. at the Kennel Club Building at 6687 N.75 Dr. Escanaba, just north of the Wells Sports Complex. The public is welcome to attend.

Bay de Noc Kennel Club holds walk-in puppy classes every Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. Learn training tips and socialize your puppy. Stop by and see how it works.

Amvets Post 123

at the UP State Fair

ESCANABA -- Amvets Post 123 will be at the state fair this year, in the Ruth Butler Building. If you are a veteran, active duty member, spouse, child, sibling, parent or grandparent of a veteran, stop by the both to find out information.

Amvets is a veteran organization helping local veterans and the local community. They have donated money, and have built handicap ramps for people in the local community. Stop by the booth to see how you can help.

Isabella hosts

market on Fridays

ISABELLA -- Farmer's Market will be held each Friday, though Oct. 6 at the Isabella Community Hall. The hall is located south of Hwy U S 2 on County Rd. 495. The market is open from 3 to 6 p.m.

Country Express band

performs Friday

ESCANABA -- Amvets Post 123 will host the country band Country Express on Friday, Aug. 11, from 7 to 11 p.m. A donation of $5 will be accepted at the door. A meat raffle will be held, with tickets being $1, along with a $25 door prize being drawn at 10 p.m.

Grab a dinner to go

on Thursday nights

GLADSTONE -- Memorial United Methodist Church of Gladstone will be providing a grab-and-go bag with a grilled brat or hot dog, chips and a drink for $5 prior to each Thursday night concert in the park. The public can drive up to the church and grab a quick dinner to go and then continue down Lake Shore Drive to enjoy the concert each Thursday. The sale will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Proceeds go to support Vacation Bible School.

Scout Day at the

UP State Fair

ESCANABA -- UP State Fair Scout Day, is Sunday, Aug. 20. Scouts in uniform get in for free. Contact Craig Woerpel at 280-0936 or craig@upscouting.org.

All Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Girl Scouts in the whole UP are strongly encouraged to participate. All Scouts are to bring something, that your unit likes to do, that can be demonstrated at Scout Day to show others what we all do in Scouting.

Mark Rice of Camp Hiawatha reminds all Scouts that units wishing to participate in the UP State Fair Scout Day during the day on Sunday are welcome to stay the weekend in the UP, at Camp Hiawatha, contact Mark for details at Mark ScoutingMark@charter.net.
