Cedar Creek Country

Band performs tonight

ESCANABA –The Cedar Creek Country Band is scheduled to perform live tonight at the AMVETS Hall in Escanaba from 7 to 11 p.m. A $5 donation will be accepted at the door. A meat raffle will be held. All are welcome.

Used book sale at

the Waterfront Festival

ESCANABA — The League of Women Voters of Delta County will hold a used book, video and CD sale on Saturday, Aug. 5, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in conjunction with the Bonifas Fine Arts Center Waterfront Art Festival in Ludington Park.

Proceeds from the sale are used to pay for printing voter education publications or other voter services.

SuperiorLand Pet Partners

holds meeting Aug. 19

MARQUETTE — SuperiorLand Pet Partners, a local affiliate of Pet Partners therapy animal group, trains, tests and registers animals and their human handlers to do animal therapy volunteering.

The teams are invited into hospitals, nursing and rehabilitation homes, schools, libraries, etc. to bring comfort and support. Handler classes and tests are offered approximately four times per year, with the next class being held on Saturday, Aug. 19 in Marquette.

SERA holds meeting

ESCANABA — The Upper Peninsula Chapter 16 of the State Employees Retirement Association (SERA) will hold their August meeting on Monday, Aug. 7 at the state office building conference room, located at 305 Ludington Street, Escanaba. The meeting will be at 1:30 p.m.

ROCK — A dance will be held at the Rock Community/Senior Center, located at 3892 W. Mapleridge Rd., on Sunday, Aug. 13, from 1 to 5 p.m. Enjoy the music of Angels & Outlaws. Door cost, $5 per person. Comedy Club for kids

GLADSTONE — All area middle schoolers, age 12-14, are welcome to join Comedy Club. The group will meet every Wednesday of each month at Gladstone City Hall from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Members will perform skits, improv, and stand-up comedy. Costumes and props are provided.
