Meet the Athlete: Alex Prins

ESCANABA — As the Gladstone Braves prepare for the 2025-26 basketball season, Daily Press sportswriter Adam Hinch got the oppertunity to sit down with Braves sophomore Alex Prins to discuss a various number of topics.
Adam Hinch: What got you int basketball?
Alex Prins: I started playing when I was young, in first grade I was in my first tournament and just kept with it.
AH: What other sports do you play?
AP: I also play golf.
AH: What is your favorite NBA team?
AP: The Milwaukee Bucks.
AH: Do you have a favorite player?
AP: I like Giannis Antetokounmpo.
AH: What kind of music do you like?
AP; I dont have a favorite genre I like a lot of everything.
AH: What is your favorite subject in school?
AP: Math.
AH: What field do you want to study in after high school?
AP: Probably business of finance.
AH: What is your favorite food.
AP: Probably like pizza or spaghetti.
AH: What do you like to do in your spare time?
AP: I like to go golfing and hang out with friends.
AH: What is you most memorable moment from basketball so far?
AP: In 7th grade we had a tournament I hit a fade away buzzer-beater from the corner for thew win.
AH: Do you like to hunt or fish?
AP: I don’t.
AH: If you could go anywhere on vacation where would you go?
AP: I would go to Hawaii because it’s fun and always warm.
AH: Do you have intentions to play basketball past high school?
AP: Not sure yet.
AH: What was your best moment from last season?
AP: Beating Escanaba in districts or my triple-double against Manistique.
