Jets take two from Cougars
EBEN JUNCTION — Beau Maule drove in four runs on two hits as North Central swept Superior Central in a baseball doubleheader here Monday. The Jets won game one 18-8 and game two 6-4.
The Jets jumped out to an early lead in the lead in the top of the first inning after Aidyn Burton doubled scoring a run. Beau Maule hit a two-run single and Sam Salo singled bringing in a run. Jordan Walters drew a walk to bring in a run and Kaden Malone hit a sacrifice fly to bring home a run and the Jets led 6-0.
The Jets extended the lead in the second inning as Maule singled, scoring two runs and a throwing error scored another run and the Jets led 9-1.
Nathan Pipkorn got the win for the Jets, allowing one run on one hit with four strikeouts and six walks.
The Jets were first on the board in game two, as Brooks Castle hit a ground ball and reached on an error by the shortstop scoring a run.
The Cougars got on the board in the bottom of the first inning as sophomore Ryder Kroupa scored on an to tie the game at one. The Cougars took the lead in the second inning as Eli Valima grounded out, scoring a run. The Cougars extended the lead to 3-1 on a sacrifice fly by Kroupa to put the Cougars up 3-1
The Jets tied the game at three on a two-run single by Daunte Sandoval in the fourth inning.
The Cougars took the lead again in the bottom of the fifth as Kroupa scored on a passed ball to take a 4-3 lead.
The Jets put the game away in the sixth inning as Pipkorn had a two-run single to put the Jets up 5-4 and Castlehit an RBI double to put the Jets up 6-4.
