BR-H running back Vincent Martin signs letter of intent
HARRIS — Bark River-Harris running back Vincent Martin signed his letter of intent and will attend Northern Michigan University in the fall of 2023.
Vincent Martin was born on October 25, 2004, son of Tony and Amy Martin. Vincent developed a passion for football at a very early age playing with his brothers and friends. He is an avid NFL fan and his favorite team is the Kansas City Chiefs.
Martin joined the Bark River-Harris football team in ninth grade.
“It didn’t go well that year. I was still learning and made lots of mistakes, fumbled too much but never gave up, Then lost my entire sophomore season due to COVID-19. In my junior year, I didn’t get much playing time but took advantage of any opportunity I got,” Martin said.
Martin took over as the Broncos starting running back in his senior season and broke the Broncos school record with 1,754 yards on 201 carries and 14 touchdowns. Martin also tallied 199 yards rushing against Iron Mountain in the District Championship game.
Martin’s memorable moment came during the homecoming victory over Gwinn where he surpassed the 1,000 yard mark.
“It was a great achievement for me to go over 1,000 yards on homecoming and to do it in front of friends and family and my teammates is extra special,” Martin said.
He was the offensive player of the year in the Iron Conference, All-Conference and All-Region running back and made the All U.P. Dream Team running back. He also set the school record in the weight room with a 505lb deadlift.
“We are very proud to have his hard work morals and dedication pay off and happy to have close to home to follow them all season,” said his mom Amy Martin.
