Out of state runners take top of MISH

GLADSTONE — Out-of-state runners grabbed the top three overall places in the Second Annual MISH Marathon here Saturday.

Will Berry of Russellville, Ark. became the overall winner, covering the 26.2-mile course in three hours, seven minutes and 17.7 seconds.

He was followed by women’s champion Corinna Pena of Naperville, Ill. (3:14:24.8) and runner-up Madeline Mclain of York, Pa. (3:20.20.2) and this sunny and warm day.

“I”m very happy, and I really like the course,” said Berry, who completed his 30th career marathon. “I tried to stay as cool as possible. I had a little bit of cramping and started walking, then started running again. We had a breeze coming off the lake in the last two miles, which kind of cooled you off. We’re really enjoying our visit up here. This is beautiful country.”
