UPIR holds fan appreciation night

ESCANABA — Fan Appreciation Night sponsored by Engineered Machine Products at the Upper Peninsula International Raceway featured double-winners in four of its divisions Saturday night.

Griffin Iverson (Escanaba), Matt Valiquette (Menominee), T.J. Everard (Green Bay, Wis.) and Scott Degnan (Escanaba) each won their heat and feature races in their respective division.

Behind Iverson, in the Riverside Auto Group Youth Micro Sprints, were Carson Artley and Karl Warm — both from Escanaba.

In the Bink’s Coca-Cola Sport Modified feature, Jamie Iverson (Escanaba) and Pat Richer (Bark River) followed Matt Valiquette across the line.

Green Bay’s T.J. Everard beat Tony Everard (Green Bay, Wis.) and Thomas Schulte in the Island Resort Sport Compact feature, while Degnan held off Matt Valiquette and Jess Denome (Escanaba) for the win in the Super Vintage Modified main event.

Other feature winners included Tyler Demars (Green Bay, Wis) ahead of Escanaba’s Brett Labre and Drake Degnan in the Sportsman Micro Sprint division, Logan Getzloff (Wilson) ahead of Escanaba duo Rick Ness and Kevin Warm, Allan Yelle (Sands) in front of Kevin Listila (Germfask) and Herb Iverson (Gladstone) for the Vintage Modified field and Neil Aaberg (Escanaba) ahead of Paul Wagner (Gladstone) and Tyler Winling (Escanaba).

Racing at UPIR resumes Saturday with the green flag at 6 p.m.
