Esky’s Hudson, Victorson receive honorable mention
ESCANABA — No Upper Peninsula basketball players received Division 2 all-state first or second-team recognition by a panel of 11 Michigan sportswriters released Wednesday.
Escanaba’s Erik Victorson and Carter Hudson, however, gained honorable mention.
Victorson averaged 10.5 points per game, had 46 assists, 26 steals and hit 1,000 career points in an MHSAA state quarterfinal against Bridgeport.
“(Erik) is probably one of the best defenders in the U.P.,” said Escanaba coach Tracy Hudson. “He’s probably one of the best individual defenders I’ve had.”
Carter Hudson averaged 11.5 PPG, 7 rebounds per game and was 64% on free throws.
“(Carter) has been a great rim protector and very physical player for us,” said coach Hudson. “He’s also an excellent defender. I think one of the top defensive players in the U.P.”
The Eskymos finished the season 17-3 wrapping things up with a 51-42 loss in an MHSAA state quarterfinal against Bridgeport.
