Stannard gets another honor
Brayden Stannard
ESCANABA — For the second time this season, Bark River native and former Escanaba hockey player Brayden Stannard was named the East Star of the Week in the North American Hockey League.
The 17-year-old Maryland Black Bears forward and University of Nebraska-Omaha recruit posted a hat trick, including the game-winning goal and an assist in a 4-2 win over Jamestown Friday. He then picked up an assist in a 3-2 loss Saturday, but finished the weekend with a plus-5 rating.
For the season, Stannard is fourth on the team in scoring with 32 points in 40 games played. “Brayden has been a consistent performer for us all season long,” said Black Bears head coach Clint Mylymok. “He keeps improving and is really starting to become an impact player for us. We look forward to seeing how much more he is capable of at this level.”
