Silverstone named All-Conference

ESCANABA — A pair of Escanaba hockey players received postseason recognition during the annual meeting of the Great Lakes Hockey Conference coaches on Monday afternoon.

Senior forward Ethan Silverstone gained second-team honors and senior defenseman Luke Labre received honorable mention.

Calumet senior forward Scott Loukus was selected Player of the Year and Houghton’s Corey Markham was named Coach of the Year.

The first team is comprised of Calumet junior forwards Dean Loukus and Tanner Rowe, Houghton senior defenseman Ty Halonen and junior goaltender Jimmy Pietila, Hancock junior forward Austin Salani and Marquette senior defenseman Jakob Peterson.

Other second-team selections include Calumet senior defenseman Cam Kauppinen and goalie Alex Studebaker, Houghton senior forward Tucker Tapani, Hancock sophomore defenseman Chad Nordstrom and Marquette senior forward Gaetano Cammarata.

Also receiving honorable mention were Calumet’s Alex Mattila, Houghton’s Jiseung Choi, Hancock’s Petr Anderson, Marquette’s Andrew Fedrizzi, Kingsford’s Evan Hedtke and Negaunee’s Jack Mattias.
