Clifford, Norway cruise by Cougars

NORWAY — McKenzie Clifford canned a game-high 23 points and Kassie Gyselinck netted 19 as Norway cruised past Superior Central 64-19 here Tuesday night in Skyline Central Conference girls basketball.

The Knights, who improved to 2-17, got out to an early lead in the first quarter and never looked back.

“We were able to dictate the pace of the game defensively from the start,” said Norway head coach Joe Tinti. “SC never quit and was scrappy throughout the game. I am very proud of the girls and they deserved this one.

“I like how we came together tonight and played well. Everyone played tough defensively and it was nice to have Kali (Stanchina) back tonight. This team has never quit all year and earned tonights win.”

Stanchina had been in concussion protocol the last couple of games.

Norway won the JV game to remain undefeated in league play.

The Cougars host Stephenson in their regular season finale Thursday.
