C-N bows in semis at Forest Park

CRYSTAL FALLS — For the first time in seven years under the guidance of head coach Sara Johnson, the Stephenson Eagles claimed the annual Forest Park Invitational volleyball tournament.

The Eagles topped North Dickinson 21-18, 21-10 in the final of the tournament Saturday after eliminating Carney-Nadeau 21-9, 21-14 in the semifinals.

The Wolves won all four matches in pool play before falling in the semifinals. They took care of Forest Park (21-10, 21-14), Iron Mountain (21-15, 21-17), L’Anse (21-14, 21-8) and Munising (21-10, 21-5).

Haley Ernest led C-N with three aces, three kills, 50 assists and 25 digs. Liana Blahnik chipped in with five aces, 18 kills, 15 digs and 10 blocks while Taylor Kedsch had six aces, 24 kills and 29 digs. Sandra Boulton added five aces, 12 kills and 25 digs, Jules Thoune had four aces, four kills, three assists and 16 digs, Zoey Poupore had three kills and 25 digs, and Heidi Kirschner chipped in four kills, six digs and three blocks.
