Basketball camp

ESCANABA — The Northern Lights YMCA is offering a new basketball camp from July 22-25 for boys and girls grades 7-12 from 8-9:30 a.m.

The camp will be led by former Gladstone basketball coach Clayton Castor and professional basketball player Olivia Nash, who played at Escanaba.

“We are excited to offer this program and we know the kids have been looking forward to it,” said YMCA Youth Sports Coordinator Boston Hood. “The basketball camp is designed to be a high-intensity skills and drills camp that will challenge players through team drills.

“Clayton and Olivia bring a lot of playing and coaching ability to the table. The experience we have leading this camp is something special. Clayton and Olivia bring experience and knowledge of basketball that we don’t normally see around the area.”

The camp will be held at the Bay College gym. Group rates are available to high school teams. Cost is $31 for YMCA members and $62 for the general public. Registration is underway. Players can sign up at nlymca.com or the front desk. For more information, contact the YMCA (906-789-0005).
