Carson Shea

GLADSTONE — Dan Martin, Carson Shea and Jared Crow were instrumental in helping the Gladstone Braves’ baseball team post a 27-7 record and a birth in the state semifinals this past season, and they were rewarded for it in Division 3 All-Region voting done by the coaches.

Martin, who was also named to the All-State second team as an outfielder, batted .333 with four home runs, six doubles and 28 RBIs. Shea made it as a utility player, hitting .456 with 18 RBIs, 27 runs scored, 22 steals and three doubles. He also had great pitching stats, posting a 9-1 record in 11 starts with a 0.741 ERA in 56.2 innings of work. Crow reached at first base, hitting .340 with 15 RBIs and three doubles.

First-year Braves’ coach Kelly Shea was also selected as one of the All-Region Coaches of the Year with Beaverton’s Scott Wicke.

Martin, Shea and Crow were also selected to the All-District team. Joining them from Gladstone are catcher Cooper Cavadeas, infielders Zach Hanson and Ian Schwalbach, and outfielder Cody Frappier.

Cavadeas hit .400 with 23 RBIs, seven doubles, two triples and a home run. Hanson was brilliant defensively and batted .333 with 25 runs, 13 RBIs, 19 stolen bases and five doubles. Schwalbach hit .306 with 23 RBIs, 20 runs, 11 steals, two doubles and a home run. Frappier batted .366 with 28 RBIs, 28 runs, five doubles and four home runs.
