Indians’ championship

teams to be honored

GLADSTONE — Players and coaches from past Gladstone Indians American Legion baseball championship teams will be honored July 3 at 7:15 p.m at Don Olsen Field, 15 minutes before the Indians host Escanaba.

State championship players and coaches from 2014, 2017 and 2018 will be honored with a sign dedication ceremony and the reading of their names. The ceremony will feature three new state championship signs with each of the players and coaches names displayed on the press box at Don Olsen Field. Players and coaches in town for the 4th of July are invited onto the field to be recognized.

The American Legion Color Guard will be presenting flags during the ceremony, with the playing of the the National Anthem to follow.

The public is invited to attend and stay to watch the game.

Gladstone women

GLADSTONE — Wendy Bratonia shot a 42 to lead the Gladstone Ladies’ golf league here Wednesday. Bratonia was followed by Mary Bergman 43, Mark Kallio 44, Cherly Dykes 45, Sandi Dagenais and Patty Valiquette 47, and Jami Pond 48.

ECC women

ESCANABA –Barb Scott shot a 36 to lead the Escanaba Country Club Women’s league Thursday. Scott was followed by Laura Clifford, Connie Kangas, Cheri Svernenson and Paula Gustafson 45, Ann Marie Porath and Sharon Nelson 48, and Karen Kelly 49.

ECC men

ESCANABA — Dave Cannon led the Escanaba Country Club Men’s 9-hole league with a 35. Cannon was followed by Brandon Gundry and Dom Denetti 37, Dave Harris, Jeff McCall, Randy Steinhausen, Alex Sullivan, Randy Eis and Paty Manning 38, and Sam Larrabee, Jake Wiles, Mike Beveridge and Steve Scott 39.

Tom Zeni shot a 75 to lead the 18-hole league. Zeni was followed by Harris 76, Eis 77, Ed Legault and Jake Berlinski 78, and McCall and Benetti 79.
