Indians’ championship

teams to be honored

GLADSTONE — Players and coaches from past Gladstone Indians American Legion baseball championship teams will be honored July 3 at 7:15 p.m at Don Olsen Field, 15 minutes before the Indians host Escanaba.

State championship players and coaches from 2014, 2017 and 2018 will be honored with a sign dedication ceremony and the reading of their names. The ceremony will feature three new state championship signs with each of the players and coaches names displayed on the press box at Don Olsen Field. Players and coaches in town for the 4th of July are invited onto the field to be recognized.

The American Legion Color Guard will be presenting flags during the ceremony, with the playing of the the National Anthem to follow.

The public is invited to attend and stay to watch the game.

Irish Oaks men

GLADSTONE — Don Cousineau shot the low round of 36 at the Irish Oaks Men’s League Wednesday.

He was followed by Scott Kwarciany 37, Glen Higley, Josh Mileski, Tim Shea and Mark Weber 38, and Jason Micheau, Mike Pilon, James Smith, Kevin Vogel and Mike Barnes 39.

Highland women

HYDE — Lori Johnson hit 46 in the Highland Women’s League Wednesday. She was followed by Denise Veeser, Jayne Mackowiak and Theresa Klein 47, Anne Madalinski and Anna Larson 48 and Sue Pifke and Cheryl Kamin 49.

On June 19, Madalinski was the leader at 42, followed by Veeser 48 and Rose Peltier and Candy Swetkis 49.

Bottle drive

GLADSTONE — The Gladstone Indians baseball program is holding a can and bottle drive fundraiser Friday, July 5 at Pat’s Foods in Gladstone from noon-5 p.m. For questions, contact Jodi Westerberg (906-420-0802).
