Kraemer to continue her basketball career

Jordan Kraemer

ESCANABA — Bay College’s Jordan Kraemer will continue her basketball career at Grand View University in Des Moines, Iowa. Kraemer signed with the Vikings at Bay College Thursday with her family, Norse teammates and Norse coach Rob Robinson around her.

Kraemer, a guard from Norway High School, set a couple milestones for the Norse last season. She became the first player in school history to reach 1,000 points in a home win over Gogebic Community College Feb. 13, and she also became the first Norse player to ever have a perfect shooting game, going a combined 21-for-21 from the field and three throw line for a season-high 31 points in just 24 minutes in a home win over Bryant & Stratton College Feb. 9.

Kraemer finished the season averaging 17.2 points and 6.8 rebounds per game, getting her selected to the NJCAA All-Region team with teammate Paige Welch. She shot 47.7 percent from the field and 82.1 percent from the free throw line, while recording 56 steals, 55 assists and 11 blocked shots.

Kraemer led the Norse to the Region 13 championship game, where she scored a school-record 34 points, but the Norse lost 80-70 to United Tribes Technical College.

She is also Norway’s all-time leading scorer, reaching over 1,000 points there before coming to Bay.

“I wouldn’t be half the person or player I am today without all the people that have surrounded me. I am so grateful and forever thankful for everyone who has supported me through it all. Time to keep rolling,” she said in a Facebook post Thursday afternoon.
