Bay College Swing

for Scholarships

ESCANABA — The 29th Bay College Swing for Scholarships golf event is Thursday, July 18 at the Escanaba Country Club. Registration begins at 11 a.m. and golf starts at noon.

The event includes lunch, hospitality on the course, live and silent auctions, course contests, and a steak and shrimp dinner to follow.

All proceeds will be used to support student success through scholarships. This event has helped nearly 300 academically deserving students achieve their educational goals at Bay College.

The format is a four-person scramble, choosing the best ball of your team for each shot. Anyone who hits a hole-in-one on hole 13 wins a brand new Chevy Equinox. Sponsorship opportunities are also available.

Esky native joins

Premier League

ESCANABA — Tyler Borkadi of Escanaba will be joining the Dakota Youngstars, a United Premier Soccer League team in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Borkadi played for Bayside Soccer in Escanaba and the Green Bay Lightning. Most recently, he played four years on the Finlandia University men’s soccer team.

Mercier sinks ace

HERMANSVILLE — Bryson Mercier, a freshman at North Central, sank his second hole-in-one by using an approach wedge on the sixth hole at the Wild Pines Golf Course in Hermansville. His first ace was last summer on the eighth hole at the same course.

Gladstone Men’s

Golf League

GLADSTONE — Scott Neurohr shot a 73 to lead the pack at the Gladstone golf men’s 18-hole morning league. Neurohr was followed by Kelly Shea (74), Wayne Marshall (74), Mark Hagar (76), Gary Bricco (76), Steve Bratonia (77), Gary Micheau (78) and Jim Broman (79).

Korey Smith shot a 36 in the afternoon 9-hole men’s league.
