Big Bay beats Cougars’ girls
GARDEN CORNERS — The Big Bay de Noc girls basketball team posted its third win in a row, coming from behind to upend Superior Central here Monday in a Skyline Central Conference game.
The Black Bears (4-6, 2-6 SC) trailed by six after the first quarter and 29-27 after the third frame before rallying for the win.
The Cougars (0-11, 0-10) came close to picking up their first win, but still fell just short.
Holli Stapleton led all scorers with 15 points for the Black Bears, going 7-of-10 from the free throw line.
Willow Pasanen had 11 points to lead the Cougars, while Jada Johnson had 10 for a season-high. Riley Johnson added nine points and drew four charges.
Big Bay visits Mid Peninsula Thursday, while the Cougars visit Munising Friday.
