on Dean’s List

ESCANABA — Nineteem athletes at Bay College have landed on the fall Dean’s List, which requires a 3.5 grade point average and completing 12 or more credit hours.

Six of them had perfect 4.0 averages, Logan Bailey, Tyler Skufca and Mark Zhang in baseball, Logan Hardwick in men’s basketball, Haley Trudell in women’s basketball and Lexi Winling in softball.

Also on the Dean’s list at 3.5 and above are: Olivia Capodilupo, Rhiley Hubert, Emily LaFave and Jerrika McAlpine in softball, Mike McVey, Dane VanDenHeuval, Mason Korhonen and Owen Hanson in baseball, Katy Combs and Jody Peters in women’s cross country, Kaitlyn Hardwick in women’s basketball and softball, Steven Magnuson in men’s cross country and Darien Nichols in men’s basketball.

MANISTIQUE — The Manistique Emeralds will visit Munising Jan. 16 for a boys basketball game that was postponed Monday because of harsh weather conditions.

Martin is all-state

GLADSTONE — Senior Dan Martin of Gladstone has been named to the Division 5 all-state football team by the Detroit Free Press. Martin earlier had been named All-U.P. in Class A-B-C and was the defensive player of the year in the Great Northern Conference, in his first season of football. He had a school-record 12 sacks last season.
