YMCA swimmers set three records
MARQUETTE — Three new team records were established here Saturday as the Northern Lights YMCA swim team competed in the Deer Camp Invite.
Irene Neumeier led the NL team with seven first-place finishes in girls age 9-10. She set a team record of 1:05.79 in the 100 freestyle and also qualified to swim in the state meet in the 50 backstroke.
Esther Oswald improved her 15-and-over mark in 200 backstroke, winning the event in 2:15.95.
Adrianna Getzloff won six races and qualified for state in the 50 butterfly.
Nate Lanaville, 12, set a record of 12:17.94, surpassing his own mark by nearly a minute, in boys 11-12 1,000 freestyle. He also qualified for a new state event, the 100 backstroke.
Four swimmers recorded personal bests, Gideon Barron (age 11), Mishka Kassety (10), Ben Knauf (10) and Weston Knauf (12).
The team resumes action Dec. 1 at the Green Bay Sprint Meet.
