Redmen harriers tip Braves

GLADSTONE — The Gladstone boys grabbed the top three places, but couldn’t match Marquette’s depth in their own invitational cross country meet Thursday.

Marquette retained its title with 45 points, followed by Gladstone 61 and Newberry 78.

Senior Adam Bruce won the 3.1-mile course at Beauchamp’s Grove in 16 minutes, 24 seconds. He was followed by classmate Jake Strasler (17:34) and freshman Giovanni Mathews (17:40).

Manistique junior Alex Misniakiewicz placed fifth (17:45) and North Central senior Griffin Johnson was ninth (17:58).

The Marquette girls repeated as champions with 42 points, followed by Menominee 62 and Kingsford 101.

St. Ignace senior Elizabeth Becker won at 20:28. She was followed by Superior Central junior Danika Walters (20:40) and Munising senior Maddy Peramaki (20:46).
