Jets land in playoffs

Noah Gorzinski has super game

FLORENCE, Wis. — Noah Gorzinski accounted for a quartet of touchdowns here Friday night to help the North Central Jets upend Florence 42-22 in non-conference football.

The victory gives the Jets (6-1) the key to enter the eight-player post-season playoffs. “You can take a breath now,” said coach Leo Gorzinski.

Noah Gorzinski had scoring runs of 11 yards in the first quarter and 22 yards in the second quarter to help the Jets establish a 28-8 halftime lead.

He also tossed touchdown passes in each quarter, hitting Leo Gorzinski Jr. for 20 yards in the opening quarter and connecting with Carter Holle for 19 yards in the second quarter.

Cole Timblin also scored two TDs, on a four-yard run in the third quarter and a 60-yard dash with 3:06 left in the game.

“Noah does what Noah does,” coach Leo Gorzinski said. “Running and throwing, he is a threat. He had a lot of help tonight from Timblin and Holle.”

The Bobcats made it closer by scoring a touchdown with 41 seconds left, keyed by a long kick-off return.

The Jets piled up 403 yards in 62 plays, rushing for 308 yards.

Noah Gorzinski hit 11-of-16 passes for 95 yards and ran for 152 yards in 29 carries. Timblin added 161 yards in 15 carries.

Holle nabbed five passes for 44 yards and Brady Eichmeier caught four balls for 33 yards.

The Jets limited Florence to 181 yards, with 77 in the air.

Leo Gorzinski Jr. had nine solo tackles to lead the defense.

“Florence played us the best defensive game we’ve faced in quite a while,” said coach Gorzinski. “THey are a quick, hard-hitting team. It is fortunate we got up on them early and put them in catch-up mode.”

The Jets resume action Friday when they host Carney-Nadeau.
