Wolves reject Rockets’ spike rally

CARNEY — The Carney-Nadeau Wolves rejected Rapid River’s comeback effort Thursday night in a 3-0 (25-12, 25-12, 25-23) volleyball triumph over the Rockets.

“I thought we played very solid all night, but we missed a couple serves in the third set and Rapid River was serving well,” coach Steve Kedsch said, noting the Wolves led 18-8 in the finale. “They kept us off balance on serve receives and we weren’t able mount an attack.”

Carney’s Taylor Kedsch collected eight kills and Ashlynn Hansen added seven. Talisha McCullough had 14 assists and eight digs.

The Wolves, who also won the jayvee match (25-19, 25-14), visit Big Bay de Noc Monday. Rapid River hosts Munising Tuesday.

The summary:

Carney-Nadeau — Harris (three aces, six digs); Boulton (two aces, four kills); Kedsch (eight kills, three digs); Hansen (seven kills); Poupore (three kills, four digs); Blahnik-Thoune (two kills, six assists, four digs); McCullough (14 assists, eight digs).

Rapid River — Jenna Rubick 3 kills, 4 digs, 6 assists; Cassidy Berg 6 digs; Emily Thibault 4 kills; Kristin Goodacre 2 kills, 3 digs, 2 aces; Addi Christoff 6 digs; Gabby Moss 2 kills.
