Black Bears swept by Trojan spikers

GARDEN CORNERS — Forest Park proved a tough match-up for Big Bay de Noc Thursday night as it handed the Black Bears a 3-0 (25-18, 25-6, 25-12) volleyball loss.

“Tonight was definitely a workout for my girls,” said Big Bay coach Angie Paulson. “Forest Park has some height and they can definitely hit the ball. We had the lead for a while, but just couldn’t hang on to it. For what we were up against, I am really proud of how hard they worked. Forest Park has a much larger district than ours and they definitely have the experience and of course, height on their side. They are a great team and we did our best tonight.”

Big Bay’s Riley Lawrence collected five service aces and 14 digs. Meagan Yonker collected 21 digs and Holly Stapleton added 10.

The Black Bears host Carney-Nadeau Monday.

Big Bay de Noc — Lawrence (five aces, one kill, four assists, 14 digs); Massengill (three aces, one kill, one assist); Yonker (two aces, two kills, four assists, 21 digs); Stapleton (one ace, one kill, one assist, 10 digs).
