Wolves repulse Wolverine spikers

ST. NICHOLAS — Carney-Nadeau used solid play in three sets here Thursday to upend the Mid Peninsula volleyball team 3-1.

“We were just solid defensively,” said C-N coach Steve Kedsch. “We were attacking the ball and that kept them off-balance. We had a lot of long volleys tonight.”

Taylor Kedsch helped get the Wolves going with a seven-point service run in the opening set that tied the score at 8-8 and kick-started the visitors.

“Our scores didn’t reflect how much we hustled tonight,” said Mid Pen coach Emily Kayser. “We hustled all over the court.”

“THe second set our offense was flowing really well and our communication was a key during that set,” said Kayser.

“Our biggest mistake was we had way to many ball-handling errors. The season is still young and we have a lot to improve on. We have a lot of room to learn and grow.”

Kedsch was impressed with his hosts. “Give Mid Pen a lot of credit. Thjey were covering the court real well. They made some amazing defensive plays to keep the ball in play,” he said.

Carney-Nadeau visits Stepenson Tuesday while Mid Pen resumes action Thursday at Rapid River.
