U.P. Strongman champions

CRYSTAL FALLS — Niagara’s Kevin Anderson captured the lightweight division Saturday in the 12th annual UP Strongman Competition at Butler Potato Farm.

Anderson scored 20 points in the five-event competition. Runner-up Josh Simmons of Gladstone had 9.

Five events comprised this year’s competition — overhead lift, farmer’s walk/carry; stone/rock lift; push/pull prowler; and medley.

Bill Santilli, one of the event organizers, said “25 competitors put on a good show for the spectators.

“The competitors seemed to really enjoy the competition and they all displayed outstanding sportsmanship,” said Santilli, adding that attendance was “very good.”

UP Strongman Competition is a fundraiser for the Forest Park football program.
