Simonsens married 40 years

PERKINS - Ken and Mary (Lippens) Simonsen of Perkins celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on July 21. They incorporated an anniversary party with their annual "Golf Ball" party in August. Then in September, they took a cruise to Jamaica and Grand Cayman to further celebrate this milestone.

Ken and Mary were married on July 21, 1973, at St. Joseph's Church in Perkins. Attending the couple were Gary Isaacson, Beverly (Vermote) Witter, Joyce (Lippens) Destrampe and Jane (Lippens) Hurst, and Linda Simonsen, Tom Lippens, Gary Simonsen, and the late Tony Robbins. Flower girl was Yvonne (Lippens) Chenier, and ring bearer was Jerome Falkeis.

Ken worked for UPS for 38 years, retiring in 2008. He enjoys working in the fields at the family farm, watching "Fox News," and working in the woods.

Mary and Ken Simonsen

Mary was a stay-at-home mother for the first part of her career, then she worked for MSU Extension until retiring in 2011. She enjoys gardening, sewing, and working on projects around the house.

The couple both enjoy spending time with their children and grandchildren.

Ken and Mary are the parents of four children, Gregg Simonsen, Erik (Stephanie) Simonsen, Kristen (Chris) Sinnaeve, and Adam (Rachel) Simonsen. They are also grandparents to Dylan and Kendra Simonsen, Kaden Simonsen, Serina Sinnaeve, and one more due in April.

In addition, they have six "grand-dogs," Marley, Snoopy, Bindy, Max, Desi, and Lulu.
