Motorist strikes man on riding lawn mower

FORD RIVER TOWNSHIP - A Bark River man riding a lawn mower on the roadway was injured when struck by a vehicle in Ford River Township on Monday, according to the Delta County Sheriff's Department.

Richard Eagle, 74, of Bark River, was attempting to cross K Road when his rider lawn mower was hit by a westbound vehicle driven by Dakota Swisher, 19, of Escanaba. Deputies were dispatched to the accident at 4:40 p.m. The collision occurred in the westbound lane.

Rampart Ambulance emergency personnel also responded to the scene and transported Eagle to OSF St. Francis Hospital for treatment of injuries. His condition is unknown.

The accident remains under investigation.
