Bishop completes Naval sub training

ESCANABA - Electronics Technition Seaman Arthur Bishop, a resident of Escanaba, recently completed his Submarine Warfare qualifitions.

The seaman is the son of Escanaba residents, Tim and Le Ann Bishop. He graduated from Escanaba High School in 2011 and enlisted in the Navy in November of that same year.

Submarine Warfare Qualifications is an intense 9 to 12 month program, dating back to World War 2, in which Bishop learned the knowledge and skills to work with several different kinds of Mechanical and Electrical equipment, as well as learning the knowledge and skills to combat multiple different casuadlties, including fire and flooding, onboard a submarine.

ETSN Bishop is currently serving onboard USS Santa Fe(SSN-763), homeported out of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
