ESCANABA - Donald and Suzanne (Rublein) Victorson of Escanaba were married 50 years ago on July 6, 1963, at the Howes Chapel at Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill. In attendance was the best man and brother of the groom, the late Arthur Victorson, and maid of honor Margaret Downs, a friend of the bride. The wedding was at 1 p.m. in the afternoon and was officiated by Rev. Clyde McCormick.
The Victorson's are the parents of three children, Michael (Karin) of Oregon, Wis.; David (Gretchen) of Evanston; and Scott (Gwen) of Sandpoint, Idaho. The couple also has six grandchildren, Annika, Ethan, Erik, Harley, Isabella and Emmett.
Early in their marriage, Don drove a bus in the City of Chicago and later made his living cutting hair as a barber in both the Chicago area and Escanaba. Sue was a psychiatric nurse in the Chicago area, and after staying home with her children for several years, she worked as a public health nurse at the Delta Menominee Health Department until she retired.
