Branz awarded bachelor's degree

GLADSTONE - Sarah Jean Branz received a bachelor of arts degree on May 4 from Aquinas College in Grand Rapids. Her accolades included Magna Cum Laude, Lambda Iota Tau, and winner of Academy of American Poets Prize 2013.

Sarah is the daughter of Gary and Tracy Branz and an Escanaba High School graduate.

Welton awarded Rhodes Scholarship

GLADSTONE - Andrew Welton was awarded a Rhodes Scholarship for a two-week program to study at Oxford University in England. He will be studying with Oxford academics by Rhodes scholars and challenged to defend, define and debate his own views of world democracy.

He is only one of two scholarships awarded by Meritas Schools which has 14 schools worldwide. Andrew will be the youngest recipient (sophomore) ever of this scholarship.

Andrew is the son of John and Lisa (Heynssens) Welton of Florida and the grandson of Robert and Joyce Heynssens of Gladstone.
