2nd Gladstone accident victim dies

Semi collides with 2 vehicles

GLADSTONE - A woman injured in an accident involving a semi truck and multiple vehicles last week in Gladstone has died.

Barbara J. Swift, 73, of 6847 Delta L.92 Drive, Escanaba, died early Sunday morning at Marquette General Hospital from injuries she sustained in the crash.

The accident occurred at the intersection of U.S. 2 and 41 and M-35 and South Hill Road at approximately 8:21 p.m. Wednesday.

Swift was a passenger in a vehicle driven by her husband Thomas Swift, also 73, of Escanaba, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Joyce Scheriff, 72, of Gladstone, was the driver of a second passenger vehicle involved, and was transported and treated at OSF St. Francis Hospital.

The driver of the semi truck was identified as Harley Durocher, 24, of Gwinn. He was not injured in the accident.

Investigators have not yet released details of the accident.
