ESCANABA - If you can't wait for the thaw to get your hands into some good dirt, the Bonifas Arts Center suggests you try some good clay, instead.
Even beginners enjoy the clay studio in the process of making a ruffled bowl under the leadership of April South Olson. The hand-building class takes you through the easy forming steps one week, and the decorating step the next. Classes are Tuesdays, March 12 and 26, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Your finished bowl sports a fancy ruffled edge, decorated by you with high-fire glazes. It's stoneware, so it's food and dishwasher safe, too.
