Hertha E. Wicklund

STONINGTON - Hertha E. Wicklund, 89, of Stonington, passed away Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, at the Elder Inn in Rapid River. She was born June 19, 1923, in Stonington, and was the daughter of John and Ellen (Gunderson) Christiansen.

Family was extremely important to Hertha; she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved people and always looked for the best in a person. Hertha never had a bad word for anybody and enjoyed life to the fullest. She enjoyed spending time at Wilsey Bay and taking long walks on the beach. Hertha was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, the Stonington Booster Club, Stonington Horseshoe League, and the Rapid River American Legion Auxiliary.

Hertha E. Wicklund is survived by daughter, Tina (Gene) Williams of Rapid River; sons, Lowell "Louie" (Diane) Wicklund of Stonington, Kelly (Linda) Wicklund of Rapid River; eight grandchildren, Corey (Melissa) Wicklund, Jason (Cindy) Wicklund, Renae (Ed) Dawson, Brook (Jeremy) Kee, Justin (Jen) Wicklund, Heather (Craig) Proehl, Holly (Wayne) Smoot, and Angel (Kevin) Chmurynski; 17 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Ethel Johnson of Stonington and Joy Christiansen of Wilson; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by son, Richard "Ricky" Wicklund; and four brothers, Earl, Lloyd, Stanley and Harland; and four sisters, Gladys, Eleanor, Dorothy and Ethel.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Gladstone. Rapid River American Legion Auxiliary services will be conducted at 3:45 Wednesday at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services celebrating the life of Hertha E. Wicklund will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Diane Srutowski, L.L.M. officiating.

Burial will take place in the Lakewood Cemetery in Stonington.
